Music Subject Leader: Mrs Sharman

When planning and teaching Music at Wawne Primary School, the intention is that children gain a firm understanding of a wide range of a variety of music through listening, playing, singing, evaluating, appraising, analysing, and composing. It is our objective for the children at Wawne Primary School to develop a natural curiosity for music as well as understanding and acceptance of the validity and importance of all types of music in people’s lives and the wider community.

Through the study of Music, children will be able to develop a wide range of fundamental skills, knowledge and understanding that will actually equip them for the rest of their life. We are committed to ensuring that children can use their musical skills, knowledge and experiences that they will gain during their time at Wawne Primary School to involve themselves in music in a variety of contexts. We firmly believe in teaching a love of music to the children, and hope this inspires their self-confidence in a safe learning environment.

We work closely with the program ‘Charanga’ to develop our children’s musical knowledge and ensure a rich curriculum is delivered.
