Message from the Chair of the Governing Body:

Welcome to all parents, carers and friends of Wawne Primary School.

My name is Lynne Clarke and I am your new Chair of Governors, having previously been a member of the Governing Body and Vice Chair.

As a Governing Body, we are incredibly proud of the pupils, the school community and the tremendously hard-working staff.  As Chair, I will continue to work with the Governing Body and Senior Leaders to ensure that the school continues to seek to improve and to develop your children into confident and capable adults, with a wide range of talents, who make positive contributions to society as a whole.

The Governing Body is made up entirely of volunteers who give their time freely to support the school, its staff and pupils. We come from a range of backgrounds and interests and with different areas of expertise, but we are united by our commitment to Wawne Primary School and the community it serves.

The Governing Body has three main responsibilities:

• Ensuring that everyone connected to the school understands and upholds the vision and ethos the school holds at its centre.
• Working with the Headteacher to ensure that the quality of teaching for all pupils enables them to realise their potential and that staff receive the training and support they need to achieve this.
• Ensuring the financial stability of the school and that the money the school receives is spent to support the curriculum and the education of the pupils.

The Governors would like to thank parents and carers for the encouragement and support they give to both their children and the school. We feel that Wawne Primary School’s caring and welcoming ethos is reflected in your attitudes and support and we are very grateful to you for all that you do to ensure that your children attend school regularly and on time, as well as for the interest you take in the work they do in school and the support you provide when they are working at home.

One of the key roles of the Governing Body is to set the strategic direction for Wawne Primary School and to undertake long term development planning for the future. In setting the strategic direction for the school, Governors are looking forward and envisaging what the school will look like in five years’ time.

In developing our strategic vision, Governors take into consideration the views of all stakeholders to construct a set of ambitious goals that embody that vision.
