Science Subject Leaders: Mrs Rahman

Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity. When planning and teaching Science at Wawne Primary School, the intention is that children learn the essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils should be encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. The children’s understanding of Science is nurtured, so that they develop the ability to explain what is occurring, be able to predict how things will behave, and analyse causes.

Science at Wawne Primary school is about developing children’s ideas and ways of working to enable them to make sense of the world in which they live through investigation, as well as using and applying process skills. The children are immersed in scientific vocabulary, which aids in their knowledge and understanding not only of the topic they are studying, but of the world around them. We are committed to ensuring that children can use their skills, knowledge and experiences in real-life contexts, and that the knowledge that they will gain during their time at Wawne Primary School inspires their self-confidence in a safe learning environment.
