Curriculum Enrichment
At Wawne Primary School we offer our children a broad and balanced curriculum which will engage each child in fun learning opportunities. We are a pupil driven school which aims to inspire and motivate children to make the most of the opportunitues provided to them.
Below is a list of some of the curriculum enrichment opportunities that we offer our children.
Team Colour Days
Every child and member of staff is part of a colour team.
Our Team colours are:
Blue, Yellow, Black, Green, Red
- Each group of staff and pupils wear their team’s colours on chosen days and events where they work together as a team. The team colours are used for events like sports day, whole school events, PSHE etc.
- The number of Dojos earned per child each day are added to their team's total which are added up and announced in the Celebration Assembly at the end of the week. The team with the most dojos at the end of the half can come to school on the last day wearing non-school uniform.
Wawne's Got Talent
The highlight of our school year is the annual Wawne's Got Talent show. This is an opportunity for children to showcase their talents in whatever area they choose. We have singers, dancers, magicians, sporting talents and comedians competing to win either Gold, Silver or Bronze medals. The children audition to take part and then finalists perform in the Wawne's Got Talent Show judged by our panel of judges.
Each year we are overwhelmed by the talent of our amazing children.
Forest School Days
We regularly invite Humber Forest Schools to our school to hold an exciting Forest School Day in our own school grounds. The children take part in a range of exciting activities including den building, fire lighting, marshmallow toasting, treasure hunts and painting using natural materials to name a few.
The children take part in the day within their colour teams with children from Nursery to Year 6 working together to achieve an outcome.
Colour Run
Each year in the Summer Term we hold our Colour Run. This is a fun filled afternoon where the children have some colourful fun and physical activity all rolled into one. There is singing, dancing and lots and lots of messy play.
School Visits
During their time at Wawne Primary School, our children have the opportunity to visit a range of places to build upon their learning in the classroom. These visits include Conisborough Castle, the Hull museums, Hull New Theatre to watch the pantomime, the Dalton Estate Countryside Day, Welton Waters and many more.
Every two years our children in Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to take part in a residential visit staying at Peat Rigg Outdoor Centre in Pickering, North Yorkshire.
